This Companion Animal Protection Society undercover investigation shows the clerk at the pet store Elite Animals (in West Hollywood, CA) repeatedly lying to different customers about where their puppies come from. CAPS investigation proves that the animals sold at Elite Animals come from puppy mills and not “breeders’ homes” as the clerk claims. The victims of Elite Animals’ dishonesty include Gov. Schwarzenegger and the Osbornes. More info at: www.caps-web.org

Don’t you think people know this already?
Most people want to see the comments that others don’t want them to see. That’s where the goodies are!!!
Interesting, HAVE YOU EVERY WATCHED, 48 HOURS, DATELINE, 60 MINUTES, this is how they get ALL their stories. PUPPY MILL SHOULD BE ILLEGAL PERIOD!!!!!!!
If you think the pet industry is bad now, see what happens if commercial breeders and pet stores are put out of business. Think black market, no regulation, only fines and arrests IF caught, no tax revenues, and at least a quadruple number of smaller sized back door business’s across America that will prove an impossible task to police.
I don’t question the sincerity of your intentions, but your methodology is completely backwards!
This means 76,999,900 households haven’t even SEEN this video.
The government will take in approximately 2.5BILLION dollars in much needed tax revenue this year alone on pet related sales.
All your efforts are just a flea bite on the ass of an elephant who didn’t notice, and if it does, the federal government will eventually take a fly swatter to YOU instead of taking a $2.5 BILLION dollar hit on tax revenue.
77 million dogs as pets in the USA.
Approximately 75 million homes in the USA have a dog as a pet.
There have been 1429 views of this video, and probably 60% have been from people who are against animals being sold in pet stores.
This leaves a potential of around 500 people who have viewed this. Assuming fully 50% are won over to your anti pet store campaign means you have won over maybe 100 households.

Well Hollywoodjinky,
So far you have called me a stone-hearted moron, brainless, and pea brained, learning disabled and somehow I am to regard your posts as having merit at all?
Your ad hominem attacks have invalidated any of your points, and proved you incapable of carrying on an intelligent, objective conversation.
This “sneaking” into a place of business which is open to the public and lying to the public is absolutely justified and legal. Read up on defamation in CA. The burden of proof is on the plaintiff. If they have a case, let’s see it. They know they used to sell animals from substandard breeding operations, they saw the evidence we presented at City Hall. Where were you? I’m thinking you must own an animal enterprise for you to be this ticked off about this teeny investigation.
Geeez, Like2bonree, it’s like teaching special ed here with you. The abortion issue, homelessness and poverty are very complex, they are important and yet irrelevant to puppy mills and way too complicated for your pea brain.
Really. Go learn something. Anything at all would be an improvement.
like2bonree,
You sound like a stone-hearted moron. Puppy mills, the vernacular for commercial breeding factories, ARE morally wrong and so are you, by arguing for them. These inhumane enterprises that torture animals are legal and they are also wrong. Read some history if you can read, that is, and learn about all of the inhumane practices that were once legal and were legislated as a result of public pressure on moral gounds. Grow a brain.
Investigative journalists make reports all the time on restaurants which violate laws and lie to consumers. Consumers have a right to know where the food/products/animals they buy come from so they can make informed decisions.
Yes, I agree. I think the world will be a better place if there was no abortion, homelessness or poverty.
The government once sanctioned and legalized slavery. Was slavery right? Isn’t the world a better place now that slavery is illegal? Additionally, these puppy mills are illegal – the mills in those photos are in violation of the Animal Welfare Act – yet the USDA doesn’t have the resources to prosecute.
Hopefully your moral expedition applies to abortion, homelessness, and poverty as well.
why would the government sanction and legalize something that YOU consider morally wrong?
so, It is operating legally, and does not have a legal term of Puppy mill in it’s classification. So Puppy mill is a slang term.
Restaurants have violations everyday, but no one is calling for all restaurants with everyday type violations to be shut down!
Soon, puppy mills – just like slavery, wife-beating, and child marriage – will be made illegal. Our circle of compassion is ever expanding.
Luckily, investigative journalists are doing what the USDA doesn’t have the funds to do – bring these violations to the attention of consumers. While Commercial Breeding Operations that profit by keeping dogs in small cages may be legal, they are morally wrong. Similarly, slavery, beating your wife, and marrying children was once LEGAL in this country but thanks to education and public outrage these practices became illegal.
Elite Animals gets their dogs from operations where dogs live in small overcrowded cages, drink dirty water, and have infected eyes. These operations are in violation of the Animal Welfare Act and have USDA violations – unfortunately, the USDA doesn’t have the resources to prosecute all the violations.
Our great government where we have the 1st amendment in place classifies licensed commercial breeders as same,
The term “puppy mill” is a derogatory and defamatory(when used to describe a legal operation) connotation meant to describe an unlicensed, substandard, hence illegal operation. Is this where Elite Animals got their dogs? just curious.
All the photos in this investigation ARE from the PUPPY MILL where Elite Animals got their dogs. This was a LEGAL investigation and there are NO lies in this video. Everything is 100% true and there are no misleading statements.
It is not illegal to catch a store owner lying to customers and warn other customers about the lie. Without investigations like these, consumers won’t be protected. This is why WE need the 1st Amendment and investigative journalism.
No.
Nor Is it ethical to lie and call a licensed commercial breeder a “puppy mill”.
Nor is it ethical to lie and sneak into a persons business and secretly videotape for the purposes of destroying that persons legitimate business.
Nor is it ethical or legal to defame any business with false, misleading lies and accusations, otherwise known as slander and libelous statements anywhere!
Is it ethically or legally acceptable for a store owner to lie to a customer’s face about where the dogs come from?
Additionally, when 5,000,000 unwanted dogs are euthanized in shelters every year, it is irresponsible to breed or buy more dogs. Adoption is the only humane thing to do.
A person who is educated about the facts would never want to buy a dog from a puppy mill-supplied pet store.
If there was no demand there wouldn’t be people trying to meet that demand.
If people can’t get their dogs legally from a regulated and taxed business they will simply get them from the black market.
Here’s some stats; 77 million dogs as pets in the USA. 45.4 billion dollars will be spent on pets this year! America WANTS it’s dogs, and It is mathematically impossible for only home raised dogs to meet this demand!
how does this scum bag sleep at night
How sad the mother & father of your dog are living a life of hell, in fact I’m sure they are dead from being bred over and over and never leaving their wire cage! How sad that you believe puppy stores and their lies, 100% of all puppy stores and the internet get their puppies from mills.
You should have had some compassion and rescued a dog, in fact I rescued a puppy mill survivor and I plan on giving her the best life that she deserves. Time to get a heart.
